Mazarife>Astorga
19.6 miles today. In the mid 90s by mid morning. It was a tough and beautiful hike. I love the aromatic burning smell in the desert. Feet a little mushy from lots of pavement and larger stone trails. Quads and calves also tight. Found a very nice one star hotel for €25. Very clean, shower very hot, bed comfortable. It also has a nice balcony. Huge plata de dia, chic pea and ham. Ibuprofen, tiger balm, a gallon of water. Bed way early. Next few days are going to be tough. Looking forward to Cruz Fero, highest point in the camino. Life is great, it’s just really challenging at times!
This looks awesome! The scenery is so beautiful over there. I’m a little jealous of your adventure, but I love seeing your updates- keep them coming! 🙂
I’m sure there are plenty of travel adventures in your future. I look forward to hearing about them!
Whew…sounds hot!! Should we bring our headlamps??
One good one for the group would be a good idea. I’ve had a hard time finding blazes in the morning with my micro lamp. Mona has a petzel that would work well.
Hi Derek,
enjoying the pics and your blog! How great. I was searching for your blog and found your class Harlem Shake.,Nice!
Just saw it’s Pamplona running of the bulls week, so a big week in Spain as your posse arrives this weekend. Keep going, you can do it! You have quite a fan club here at home.
Lots of talk of the running of the Bulls on the camino…. I think it’s crazy! Lots of nasty injuries… Glad you liked the shake!!!
Donde esta nuestro peregrino?
Getting excited about leaving…digging through mounds of work…rechecking and repacking everything…resisting the urge to add additional items…looking forward to my walking meditation…
We leave in 34 hours…see you in four days and nine hours…
Consado en Molinaseca !!! Lol… I did the same last minute additions. They have also been the only things I’ve left behind. Arm warmers and a pair of thick socks!
Those chick peas looked delicious!! 🙂
