Tourists in Porto- Sunday, June 9

5 Airports and 7000 miles of travel really make you appreciate a shower and a bed.  I woke up rested and ready to go. We took a day to see Porto before starting the Camino.  The biggest surprise was that the UFEA Final game Between Portugal and the Netherlands was being played about two blocks away. We started the day hopping the metro and heading to the cathedral where I picked up a replacement credential I seem to have lost my last one. We continued south to the river and saw an amazing assortment of buskers and performers… my favorite was a hurdy-gurdy who had several chickens dancing nearby.  Lunch was an amazing feast as we were all very hungry. It consisted of mixed seafood salad, white beans tripe, lamb chops bread, Agua con con gas and a little green wine made for a great meal. We went to Libra Leleu and amazing bookstore from the 1800s that was a major inspiration for J.K. Rowling in the design of Hogwarts. It was an amazing place to see. Returning to our Airbnb was an adventure, the crowd for the football (soccer) game was ramping up with police in riot gear had a strong presence and looked intimidating.  Our Metro stop was the epicenter of crazy town – Dragon Stadium.

Long and amazing story short.. Mona and Concetta were able to see the second half of the game!  Dan, Eunice and myself watched it on tv, and heard the roar of the crowd from the window before it hit the tv.
