Pilgrim Jetpack

Santo Domingo de Calzada>Belorado
I’m in the Meseta, it’s a long hot haul, over 100 degrees. 16 miles in this heat is tough. Pilgrims a lot quieter today. Wheat fields and gravel roads, no shade. Visited a small church in Villambistia. One of the best sunrises I’ve seen on this trip. Kept my head low and cranked out the miles as the day got warmer. Had yogurt and a tin of sardines for breakfast. Had an expresso and a chocolate croissant for second breakfast. Drank constantly, one great thing about the Camino is the access to water. Didn’t really stop till I reached Belorado. Made good time, was in a pension by 1:00. Had tomato, mozzarella and tuna salad with a tall beer for lunch. Enjoyed conversation with Bob from South Carolina and Danny from England. Danny (middle in pic below) is a serious road warrior, he’s been on his Camino for 91 days! I met Bob at the Orission Alberge my first night. Good to see familiar faces. Wifi here is lame, but facility is nice. Dinner and cathedral later. Tough day tomorrow heat and hills, going to bed early!

  1. Love the kitty!! Looking forward to European yogurt and sardines for breakfast. Concetta is concerned about access to coffee. We had a good walk last night, except that my feet were soaked through the whole time and I got blisters. Thankfully we have a week so that they can recover. See you in 11 days and 9 1/2 hours!!

    1. Coffee… Very good coffee.. is everywhere! You just have to wait a few hours if you get up early. Looking forward to the company! See you soon!

  2. I missed this blog early this morning. I just read it and I off to work. Can’t wait for your continuing pics and messages. Great journey. May the road rise up to meet you and may the wind be always at your back.
