Villafranca>O’Cerebro
The walls in my room are push up orange. The bed spread is the color of raspberry sherbet. There’s a strong dose of oakish paneling. I’m comfortably resting in this Baskin Robbins paradise after a filling meal. Soup with spinach/greens/hominy and 4 small trout. I skipped most of the fries, they pile them on every plata del dia. See trout below. It was in the low 90s today, but was offset by a strong breeze at times. 19 miles with a big hill mid day and a huge hill at the end of the day. 2100 ft climb between miles 13 and 19. I ran my Camelbak out around mile 15 and drained my reserve tank as I arrived O’Cebreiro. I was on the trail for 9 hours and arrived tired but not exhausted. Knees, back and feet are in good shape. The view is amazing, I’ll saunter around the village a bit later. Can’t wait for Sarria!

I couldn’t wait for your next blog and photos….. and it was worth the wait! I feel your sense of wonder and anticipation on your journey. Your beautiful photos and words make me cry . So glad your body is strong and you are getting close to Sarria.
Go Derek! And soon…. Go Derek, Mona, Concetta and Eunice!
xoxo Mom
I love your sense of adventure.
I have an odd craving for a push-up…more great pics and descriptions. I dropped of the trio yesterday at the airport and they were all so jacked up and excited, each for their own reasons. Especially anxious for the rendezvous with you. Angela was at the airport as a surprise. There are some pictures on Facebook she posted. I look forward to some pictures of you all on the trail. Finish strong! Enjoy the reunion. We’ll hold down the fort and tomorrow I start my Clintonville residency. Love you all and pulling for you.
Hi all…It’s 8:50am and I’m sitting here in the Santiago, Spain airport with Concetta and Eunice waiting for our 3 hour bus ride to Lugo (leaves at 11:10am) and then our quick taxi ride to Sarria before we finally join Derek on the official camino trail. The flights and travel logistics have all been easy thanks to the best travel companions ever!!! I honestly don’t think I could have navigated all of this without them. Excited to get on the trail and all be together…
Sarria is here! Sure would liked to have seen your reunion with Mona, Concetta and Eunice. Celebrating the next part of your journey …. together!!!
I love the Baskin Robbins bedroom!! You have such a way with words. Love these posts and pictures! xoxo
